As we celebrate Memorial Day and finally some success in beating COVID, we would like to share some Newtown Vet Updates that should be good news for you.

Effective today, client masks are no longer required outdoors for those who are vaccinated while on Newtown Vet grounds. Our staff will continue to wear masks and take conservative precautions for all client contact as we get more and more people vaccinated. Obviously if you are unvaccinated or have been potentially exposed to someone with COVID, please continue to wear a mask and social distance while at Newtown Vet.

We will continue to operate with curbside service for most appointments, food/medication pickups and all tech appointments (nail trims, pre-OP bloodwork etc) for now.  As of June 2nd, clients with appointments for sick patients can opt to use curbside or to come in with their pet for their appointment as long as they are vaccinated, have not been exposed to anyone with a temperature over 100 degrees in the last week and wear a mask while in the hospital.  It’s been 15 months since we have been able to welcome clients into the hospital and we are as anxious as you are to get back to some sense of normal.  We hope to be able to expand in-person options for more services in the near future.

In addition, you may have already experienced our new texting capabilities which will fully rollout for all appointments over the next few weeks.  This service will enable you to text your arrival (no more long hold times!), request an appointment, complete paperwork (surgery consent forms, and provide detailed information about your pet from the convenience of your home. We hope you will give this new service a try and tell us what you think!

Just a few reminders:

– Hospital observation is filling up fast, especially for the holiday weekends.  If you are traveling this summer please think about making a reservation soon!

– We are still experiencing ongoing shipping delays and back order situations with some foods & medications.  Please give us a few days notice for medication refills and consider ordering food refills a few weeks ahead.

– We are hoping to have some version of Pet Fair/5K in September.  Watch for more information as we get closer.

In closing, we would all like to thank you for your patience during this challenging time and hope to see you face to face soon!
